Holidays

Well it is the holiday season and even though I am not feeling very holiday, I wanted you to know that I am finished with all my shows for the year.  I am working on some commissions I had a month or so ago, and also making daily trips to the kiln and my studio to place loads of jewelry on my website.  I am also thinking of starting an ETSY or Artfire shop in January.  Which do you think I should go with?  So many glass artists on both sights but I think they are all different.  Anyway more on that later.  I thought I would share with you a couple of my new art pieces...Please leave me your comments.  I am really interested in what you think.  I am also starting a line of painting on glass, incorporating just a tiny bit of dichroic glass in the paint.  I have about 8 pieces almost finished but I still have to cut and grind so they are not ready for photo's yet.
Thanks for visiting.

Kalmbach Bead Soup

We just got back from a 3 week trip visiting friends and family.  I had finished my necklace before we left but didn't get a chance to take the pictures.  Well now I have.  I absolutely LOVE this focal. The colors are marvelous and I chose to make a necklace you could use in at least 10 ways by taking apart each row of beads and repositioning the strand or drape in a different way, or just wear one strand.  This was so fun from all the anticipation in the beginning to see if I would even get one in the mail to the finished project.  I hope you enjoy!  In case you forgot this all happened from Lori Anderson of Bead Soup Blog Party fame.  She put out a book called Bead Soup: 32 Projects Show What Happens When 26 Beaders Swap Their Stash.  Lori told us all about an exciting opportunity being provided by Kalmbach Jewelry Books to sign up and maybe get some bead soup from a retail outlet.

This is the wonderful soup sent from Bunches Of Beads in Lodi, CA.

This is my finished necklace.  Don't you just LOVE the focal!! I made this necklace with many strands that are detachable so you can wear it in about 10 different ways.  Below are just a few ways.

Here it is with just one strand.  I added the fish from my stash that I got from Antelope Beads, and a few different colored glass beads.

Here I have added 2 strands where I added to the stash some bead caps in silver and a few more colored glass beads.

These are the three strands lined up.  They are all different sizes so you can put a longer one on top and place the shortest to fit right at your neck.  I had so much fun doing this necklace.  I know I am going to LOVE wearing it!  Thanks to Kalmbach books

Thanks so much to Lori Anderson, Kalmbach Books and Bunches of Beads for this great fun time!!

Don't you just love the black and white hook!  I couldn't have had better colors....Stay tuned!

In the Pink!

Hey Lori,
This Pink's for you!!  I want to thank you for not only starting the Bead Soup Blog party but inviting all of us to join you in this incredible creative journey!!  I can't imagine where you get your energy to host 400 people in an event this size and have it come out perfect.  Really stretches your creativity and creates great excitement. Here I am in my latest Bead Soup, or part of it anyway, and I know I just can't compete with you and your cute pink hair but we hope you continue to let us come out an play with you on the next Party.

My Reveal-Bead Soup Blog Party

Let me remind you of all the wonderful items I received from my partner Joyce!

Here is a picture of some other items she sent!

And finally what I made!

The Bracelet:  I love the color of these vintage beads because they go so well with the turquoise spacers and the brass beads.  Also Joyce did such a beautiful job with the patina she put on the heart.

The earrings which I mixed the metals to have brass and copper.  The picture doesn't quite do the patina justice because the blues and greens are just beautiful!

And finally the necklace.  I placed the beautiful clasp that Joyce hand wired with the bead mix to the side because I really wanted to showcase it as well as the fabulous Vintaj focal piece she did. I added some copper chain that just goes partially around the necklace.  I drilled a hole in the bottom because these yellow rondeles she sent are just so pretty.

I love, love love what my partner sent me and I hope I did her lovely things justice. Please visit Joyce's blog and see her pieces that she made with my bead soup! I know you will be as stunned as I was how beautiful her pieces are!!!
Joyce also sent me this lovely button she had and a silver clasp(you can see both in the picture).  I am already working on something else and will post when I am finished.

I get to see my great nephew Levi today.  This picture is in my studio because it makes me laugh!  He is 5 months old, and I haven't seen him for a few months.  My neice and her family are visiting for a few days.
I have started working on my bead soup and I am so excited with the items Joyce sent me.  Just beautiful colors and different pieces.  I just love the clasp she made.  Well gotta run and get busy.

Happy 4th of July!

I finally got my pictures sized for the Bead Soup Party Blog.  Here is what my partner sent me.  Just so many amazing items.  She hand patina the focal and these cute dangles. The bead choices she sent really made my creativity go wild!  I am working on my design already.  Thanks Joyce!

She also sent me some additional goodies!  So I am going to be creating some wonderful pieces.  I could barely get everything in one picture.

This is what I sent Joyce.  The first one is what I sent for her to use for the party and the second one is just because we had an instant connection and I wanted her to have an extra package.

Monday, July 2, 2012

Well that weekend sure goes by fast!  I did get lots of stuff done just not any jewelry made yet.  Did get my partner's package on Saturday and boy is it filled with goodies!!  I can't wait to show you.
In the meantime I have to get busy because I am in two galleries and I have two shows in August.  One of them is at Art in the Redwoods and doing a open studio tour at my studio on labor Day weekend and the weekend before.

One of my latest designs in fused glass!  What do you think?  I love these pendants and they are lots of fun to do just a lot of hours.  I have just taken lots of pictures to add to my website that will be back online by the 15th of July....stay tuned for more
Well it is finally time for the Bead Soup Blog party!!  So much fun.  I have my partner who lives in Arizona and her name is Joyce Becker and here is her blog  Joyces Joyful Gems.
I think we are kindred spirits!!  I can't wait to get my package. I sent hers out yesterday so as soon as she gets it and I get mine we can post the pictures.
When I was putting my package together I tried to think a little outside the box with the colors.  Sometimes it is hard for me to match colors to go with the dichroic glass.  So I decided to send her two packages which are different.  I love doing this party!! Lori who puts it all together does a wonderful job and there are almost 400 artists going with the blog party....Can you even imagine all the creativity!!
I thought I would share the rules so you can see what we start with:
We both put together a mystery package of:
1. focal bead that must be used in an object de art (jewelry or otherwise)
2. clasp that must also be used
3. a few coordinating beads that don't have to be used

We photo the goodies we received and post here.
We make something with our goodies and post for the world to view
Joyce and I both chose our reveal date and it is : August 25th.
So check back often and see how we are coming.  In a few days we will post the photo's of our surprise package......Stay tuned.

Thursday, June 7, 2012

This has been a very sad year for me as my wonderful mom died in January and it has been hard for me to get my life going forward again.  I am trying to get in the creative mode because I have many shows coming up and plans to participate in various contests and blog party's.  My mom always delighted in my work so I am dedicating this year to her.
