New Earrings for summer

I have been super busy making earrings for a show I am doing next weekend at Gualala Arts Center.  Here is a grouping of some of them

I made 23 pairs plus polished all of my metal pieces which this week I will be putting together some necklaces and bracelets.  I am still selling all of my fused glass jewelry which has been reduced .  If you want to check the sale out go to my WEBSITE.
Aren't these cute!  I named them Aztec.  The dangles are made by Elsie Smith and the top periwinkle beads are made by Francesca DeClaire.  The pink ones are made by Sandra Arduwie ( her facebook page is Beads In Space.)  I wire wrapped in sterling silver with sterling silver dangles.  These are $38 and can be purchased from my Facebook Page.
I didn't like  this years Pantone color of Marsala until Elsie made me these dangles out of polymer clay.  They matched the glass beads made by Lori Robbins perfectly.  I love them they are also $38 and can be purchased on facebook.

Love these beach earrings.  Polymer clay dangles are made by Helena Benkoczka and the wonderful beads are made by Sandra again.  I love anything beachy and I might keep these if no one wants them.  They are also for sale for $38.

I had lots of fun but now onto the metal pieces.
Have a great day,
Marianne

Bead Peeps Swap and Hop Reveal

Wow what a fun time I had with all the wonderful goodies my partner Elsie.  Her and I had much in common not only personally but we also got sick about the same time and had major/minor problems at our houses during preparation for this hop.  So here goes.  Remember all the wonderful items Elsie sent me
At first I was overwhelmed with choices.  I don't normally work with gemstones but I loved all the different colors and shapes.  So first I worked with the Chrysophase chips and some small agates.  The first photo is the entire set. I made the bracelet with memory wire and the earrings I wire wrapped some gold filled wire around the stones.  Just a beautiful stone focal and some oblong chips.

I then started on my favorite set.  I just loved these beads made out of cord wrap.  These beads are soft and light, and added with these wonderful ceramic square beads just give a very romantic/boho vibe.  I wire wrapped units of different beads.

Here is the whole set plus individual pictures of each piece.  The necklace is 36 inches long. and I added a magnetic fold over clasp on the bracelet from my stash.  I attempted to use only what Elsie sent me except for wire and chain and the clasp.

I love these earrings with wire wrapped stones.  First time I have ever done this.  Elsie sent me brass earring loops so I thought these small green gemstone beads worked well.

This focal I had in my stash and it was really going to be used for bracelet bars but I decided the coloring worked well with the other parts.  I didn't really need to add the clasp as this necklace is quite long but I thought it adds to the design.

The final set was made up of these beautiful turquoise beads and this fabulous copper focal.  Very unusual with all the twisting of the copper.  I made just simple earrings because this necklace is only 17 inches long so it sits closer to the neckline and I didn't want to overwhelm the look.

Turns out these are still all the pieces I have left.  I am already working on a pearl bracelet with the lovely glass sparkly beads and something to add the black key to as well as I realized I did not use the clasp Elsie gave me so I will probably make another necklace.  Let me know what you think in the comments below.
Thanks,
Marianne

My Bead Soup has Arrived

I received my bead soup from my partner Elsie ( Don't forget to check out her blog)You won't believe how incredibly generous she was. There are over 150 artists participating in this hop.  You randomly get placed with another artist, The artists contact each other get to know something about them and then you exchange at least one focal and one clasp and some coordinating beads.  Some people send lots some send less but you have to send at least those few things.  Elsie went all out even making a little luggage type card that she decorated with material and it has all of her info printed on it.  You will see it to the right of the first picture.  I opened the box and she had everything labeled.  Tons of bags.

When I opened all the bags I was so excited.  There was quartz gemstones, pearls, these great beige and blue ceramic beads, some brass and silver pieces, a key, some beautiful beads that are made out of cord in a beautiful seafoam green, some crystals a great quartz focal.  I will show in more detail in my next post.

I sent Elsie her focal and clasp with beads in this purple box:

I made this copper focal out of PMC Copper clay.  The focal has kind of a vintage look.  I also sent some copper beads and a copper clasp

Soup two consisted of a fused glass focal I made with fuschia, gold and green with black accents. Unfortunately really hard to capture the shine and glitz of the dichroic glass

I also included a couple of bags of beads in various colors

I also sent Elsie some extra beads because she teaches seniors how to wire wrap and make jewelry

Well stay tuned for the rest of the journey!

Bead Peeps Blog Hop

I have my partner and her name is Elsie Deliz-Fonseca. She loves to craft besides making jewelry and she makes decorations for birthdays ,weddings sweet sixteen and school reunions. The glue gun and a pair of scissors are her best friends. Give her glitter , glue ,paper , duct tape and she can create.  She lives in New Your, while I live in California which is so fun!  I love these hops because you meet people that you wouldn't have met and you get to know and see other types of creativity.  We have so much in common it was amazing.  Anyway here is a quick couple of photo's of what I sent...actually just a tease.  She should get her package tomorrow and I should receive mine and then I will post the photo's.

Stay tuned!

Bead Peeps Hop N Swap

I am so excited to participate in the Bead Peeps Swap N Hop.  We have not received our partners yet. I will know who I will be partnered with on February 19th and our reveal will be on May 2nd.  I can't wait until I receive my package of goodies, since you never know what is going to come it is always exciting.  What happens is your partner sends you a focal, some beads and a clasp.  Sometimes you get a bunch of things and some times you get a few.  You then add to your creation from your own stash.  You make one or several jewelry pieces and then you post on your blog what you made and then you can go around to all the other blogs and see what people did with what they received from their partner.  I have participated in about 5 of this particular swap with upwards of 400 people and I am always amazed not only by my partner but all the other artists and what they create.  Stay tuned!

Pantone Color of the Year

So I have been thinking alot about Marsala the Pantone color of the year 2015.  When I first saw the color I was kind of underwhelmed.  I looked up the color on the Pantone site and here is what I learned:

Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.

 The Versatility of Marsala

  • Equally appealing to men and women, Marsala is a stirring and flavorful shade for apparel and accessories, one that encourages color creativity and experimentation
  • Flattering against many skin tones, sultry and subtle Marsala is a great go-to color for beauty, providing enormous highlight for the cheek, and a captivating pop of color for nails, shadows lips and hair.
  • Dramatic and at the same time grounding, the rich and full-bodied red-brown Marsala brings color warmth into home interiors
  • An earthy shade with a bit of sophistication, texture is the story in print and packaging. A matte finish highlights Marsala’s organic nature while adding a sheen conveys a completely different message of glamour and luxury.
Makes the color sound pretty interesting for instance as a makeup color....Here is a swatch of the color
Once I read the description I can see myself using this color in my designs.  Marsala pairs very well with many colors.

New Year New Beginnings

Well Last year is over for which I am thankful!  Many hospital visits later I am ready to move into a new year.  Our house is up for sale and I have been busy packing and sorting all my jewelry supplies.  What a job, I never realize how much I have until I either try to organize it or in this case pack it up.  I had several de-stash sales and made lots of other beaders' happy and put some money in my account to take some classes this year. I am rethinking and restarting my business in terms of goals and materials I will be working in.  I will still be working in glass but doing more with metals and Lampwork not just fused glass.  Stay tuned for some exciting news!

Drop on over to my website because I have all my jewelry on sale....All pendants are only $29 and all earrings are just $22.  All have sterling silver or gold filled findings.  Get yourself a wonderful Valentines day gift or treat a friend.
